Ms. Lisa Marie Moreno, Principal
Shoop Academy of Math, Science, and Technology
1460 W. 112th Street
Chicago, IL 60643

Dear Ms. Moreno,

It is with great interest that I seek to apply for the assistant principal position at Shoop Academy of Math, Science,
and Technology.  In addition to my educational experiences and qualifications, I have thirteen years experience in
the Chicago Public School System, and I am extremely familiar with the community surrounding your school, and
its general population.

Positive Reinforcement of Uniformed Discipline (PROUD) is a project that I created to assist a school in the area
of student behavior.  Introducing, modeling, and reinforcing positive social behavior is an important part of a
student’s educational experience. Teaching behavioral expectations and rewarding students for following them is
a much more positive approach than waiting for misbehavior to occur before responding. With the development of
the PROUD Program which puts a primary focus on school-wide discipline, and positive reinforcement, we can
establish a climate where appropriate behavior is the norm.

The PROUD Program not only has a positive affect/effect on students, but on staff as well.  With initiatives that
open communication lines among colleagues, and allows them to develop a sense of ownership in the school.

With detailed knowledge in mathematics and technology, I have a proven track record of raising test scores of
students at every stop of my Chicago Public School journey.  In addition, the experience with SIPAAA planning,
staff development, and the ability to enhance a safe and orderly school environment provide me with a firm
commitment to student-centered learning.

I stand behind the statement that all students can learn given a positive learning atmosphere that welcomes
exploration and enhances student confidence.  It is my belief that an educator’s mission is to make school
enjoyable and exciting.  If students look forward to attending school, they will want to LEARN.  I believe that is
what school is all about.

I look forward to meeting with you to discuss, in detail, how I can contribute to your school.  Thank you for your
time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Charles L Moreland
